In radiators a mixture of water and alcohol is used as:

  1. In the cold countries, the temperature is below 0°C, that is below the freezing point of water.
  2. Alcohol is added to water as its freezing point is below 0°C.
  3. These two are miscible in all proportions.
  4. By mixing them together the freezing point becomes much lower than that of water.
