Compound glands are the glands which have branching duct and they are bulky and contain many secretory units. Liver is made up of cells that are meant for secretion of hormones. These cells are attached to each other in the form of sheets so known as cords. So as liver performs endocrine function as well as produce enzyme, so known as compound gland.
