Solution

Dear Student
Kingdom Monera consists of the organisms which evolved first since the organisms which are the most simplest type are grouped into this kingdom. These are the earliest and the most simplest organisms on the Earth.

Characteristics of Kingdom Monera:

  • Absence of a well-defined nucleus or membrane-bound organelles
  • Absence of multicellular body designs [All are unicellular.]
  • Presence or absence of a cell wall
  • Autotrophic or heterotrophic mode of nutrition.

This kingdom includes mainly bacteria and blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).

Two domains of Kingdom Monera are:
1) Bacteria - unicellular prokaryotic microbes known as old prokaryotes. Eg. Halobacterium
2) Archaebacteria - E. coli
