Solution

The traditional method of farming

It is a primitive farming method that involves the application of indigenous knowledge, traditional tools, organic fertilizers, and the cultural beliefs of farmers.

Organic farming is a method of farming in which crops are grown without using artificial fertilisers or pesticides.

Organic farming is preferred to traditional farming:

  1. Only chemical-free water, natural fertilizers, and natural pest control methods are used.
  2. Organic methods of cultivation enhance the fertility of the soil.
  3. They allow for the fertility and microbial population of the soil to be restored through natural cycles.
  4. The yield that we get is also not contaminated with chemicals and is thus healthier for us to consume.
  5. In the absence of chemical fertilizers and other chemicals, pollution of water bodies by rainwater run-off from fields is reduced.
