Open in App
Solution

Greenhouse gas:

  1. A gas that absorbs and emits radiant energy in the thermal infrared spectrum is called a greenhouse gas.
  2. Water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone are the principal greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere.
  3. The electromagnetic field tends to be blind to the vibrations of any gas molecule, such as nitrogen and oxygen.
  4. They are not infrared active because they do not absorb infrared light.
  5. As a result, oxygen gas is not a greenhouse gas because they are infrared light transparent.
