It is a neuropeptide hormone produced by the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland.
During childbirth oxytocin stimulates vigorous contraction of the uterus, therefore it is called ‘Birth hormone'.
It plays a role in the period, childbirth, reproduction, etc.
