Why is sprinkler irrigation useful for Sandy soil and uneven lands where sufficient water is not available?

Solution

Sprinkler irrigation is a method of applying water which is similar to natural rainfall but spread uniformly over the land surface just when needed. So it will not waste water and it is suitable for lands with poor water availability, sandy or shallow soils, or where uniform application of water is desired.
Light sandy soils are well suited to sprinkler irrigation systems.Sandy soils have a low water storage capacity and a high infiltration rate. They therefore need frequent but small irrigation applications. Under these circumstances, sprinkler are more suitable than surface irrigation.
