Why is staffing considered as the important function of management in all types of organisation? State any four reasons.
Staffing is an important function because :
(i) Effectiveness of other functions: Staffing involves recruitment and retention of necessary human resources to perform relevant tasks and activities under planning, organising, directing and controlling and thus determines the effectiveness of other functions.
(ii) Effective utilisation of resources: Staffing helps to ensure optimum utilisation of human resources by determining suitable human resources which can efficiently utilise other resources like capital, raw material, machinery, etc., in an organisation.
(iii) Reduces costs of production: Staffing plays an important role to reduce costs of production by appointing the right person for the right job when a necessity arises in an organisation.
(iv) Helpful for employee's development: Staffing can create unity and coordination among all employees (superiors-subordinates) through effective control, clear communication, effective supervision, and leadership.
