Why is vegetative propagation practiced for growing some types of plants?

Vegetative reproduction:

  1. Vegetative propagation is a type of asexual reproduction which takes place by the means of plants propagules such as leaves, buds, roots, stems, etc.
  2. For example, The new plants of Bryophyllum grow from the buds which fall off from the edges of the leaves of the parent plant.

Advantages:

  1. Easy to form a seedless plant. For example, rose, banana, etc.
  2. Grows in a short span of time.
  3. Rapid multiplication can be done by this method.
  4. It preserves the desired character and identical copies can be formed.
  5. Very easy and economical method.
