Question

Why liquids diffuse slowly as compared to gases

Open in App
Solution

Diffusion is the process of spreading of a substance.
Gases have very low intermolecular attraction and hence their molecules move about freely, on the other hand liquids have a good amount of intermolecular attraction and hence their molecules cannot move about as freely as gases.

Due to weak attractive forces gas molecules escape easily i.e. diffuse more easily than liquids.
