Why oxidizing agents like $H N O_{3}$ and $H I O_{3}$ are used in the iodination of alkane?

Solution

Since above reaction is reversible in nature, so to destroy $H I$ , we use oxidising agent like ${H N O}_{3}$ or ${H I O}_{3}$ which oxidises $H I$ to $I_{2}$ and makes reaction irreversible.
