Solution

Dear student,

Interneurons/relay neurons connect sensory and motor neurons in the spinal cord.It receives the stimulus from sensory or afferent neuron and after the processing , it excites motor neuron or efferent neuron which finally reaches the effector organs.

The relay neurons may act like a multi-outlet sockets that allow branching of signal to happen, from sensory neuron to many motor neurons. It also helps in reflex reactions.
