Question

why replication bubbles are formed during DNA replication ?

Open in App
Solution

Replication bubbles are formed during the DNA replication at origin of replication to open the two strands of the DNA. The opening of DNA is necessary to start the replication of both the DNA strands. The development of replication bubble results in the formation of two Y shaped replication forks. The replication of new strands of DNA starts at the centre of bubble in opposite direction. On each replication fork, one leading strand is formed and one lagging strand is formed.
