Cooking involves the use of fire, so synthetic clothes i.e.; clothes made from synthetic fibres can easily catch fire.

  • Therefore, to ensure safety in the kitchen from catching fire, one should not wear synthetic clothes while cooking.

Synthetic fibres: Synthetic fibres are man-made fibres.

  • Examples: Nylon, Terylene etc.

Characteristics of synthetic fibres are:

  • Durable i.e.; long lasting.
  • Wrinkle resistant i.e.; they do not develop wrinkles easily.
  • Dry faster than natural fibres
  • Easy to handle.
  • Catch fire quickly
