Solution

Pollutants:

Pollutants are substances that cause pollution or hindrance in the process of decomposition.

Tea leaves in the sink:

  1. Tea leaves should not be thrown into the sink because they choke the drainage
  2. They do not allow the free flow of oxygen to hamper the degradation process.

Cooking oil in drainage:

  1. We should not throw cooking oil and fats down the drain because the fats and oil undergo emulsification and form a hard mass that blocks the drainage.
  2. Oil waste blocks the porosity of soils thus reducing soil fertility.
