Solution

Dear student,
Solvay process cannot be used to prepare potassium carbonate. This is because unlike sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate is fairly soluble in water and does not precipitated by the addition of ammonium hydrogencarbonate to a saturated solution of potassium chloride.
