Question

Why sound requires a much larger area for reflection?

Open in App
Solution

Sound requires a much larger area for reflection when compared to light.

Light is a particle and can travel through vacuum while sound require elastic medium . So sound is longitudinal wave and have much larger wavelength than light so each particle require same reflection if the reflection of particle are different then sound will disperse and become weak.

Hence, sound requires much larger area for reflection.
