Battle of Plassey was fought in the year 1757 between British East India company on one side and Siraj-ud-Daulah & Shah Alam II on the other side. After the death of Alivardi Khan in the year 1756, Siraj-ud-Daulah became the Nawab. The East India Company was taking undue advantages of fortification of their factories in Calcutta. Robert Clive bribed Mir Jafar-the army commander of Siraj's army. Robert Clive won the war and practically it was the beginning of era of colonial rule of the British.
