Solution

Dear student,
The followings were the reasons behind the establishment of Brahmo samaj by Raja Ram mohan roy-
1- The Brahmo Samaj does not accept the authority of the Vedas so they wanted the masses to move on from the ritualistic practices shown by ages old scriptures mainly vedas.
2- They had no faith in incarnations, and do not insist on belief in karma meanining causal effects of past deeds or samsara, (the process of death and rebirth) and hence they were of the view that through the samaj they would be able to create a little of huge change.
3- It discards Hindu rituals and adopts some christian practices in its worship. Influenced by mohammaden and christianity, it denounces image worship, polytheism and the caste system. They wanted to popularise this view among the people of India.
4- It sponsored the Band of hope temperance society, they had the motive of encouraging the education of women, and campaigned for the remarriage of widows and for legislation to prevent child marriages.
5-The Brahmo Samaj gradually reverted to the teaching of the Upanishads and carried on the work of social reform.
