The Ryots were reluctant as-
Indigo had deep roots and makes the soil lose fertility rapidly. After an indigo harvest the land could not be used for rice cultivation.
The indigo cultivators were getting very little profits thus it was not helpful them.
The ryots were forced to grow indigo on best land and that too was forced thus creating dissatisfaction.
