Why you feel a cold sensation when you pour spirit onto your palm ?

When a material in the liquid state is given energy, it changes its phase from liquid to vapour and the energy absorbed in this process is called heat of vaporization. Spirit absorbs the heat energy from the surface of hands causing it to evaporate, thus we feel a cold sensation.
