Question

With reference to photoelectron effect, define threshold wavelength.

Open in App
Solution

Photo electrons are emitted from the metal surface only if the wavelength of the incident radiation falling on the metal surface is smaller then the threshold wavelength of the metal surface. Thus threshold wavelength is the maximum wavelength that the incident radiation must have so that photoelectric effect takes place.
