Solution

Centromere:

  1. A centromere is a DNA segment that controls the migration of replicated chromosomes into two daughter cells during cell division.
  2. The centromere links a pair of sister chromatids together during cell division.
  3. The sister chromatids are connected by this constricted region of the chromosome, resulting in a short and long arm on the chromatids.
  4. During mitosis, spindle fibers attach to the centromere via the kinetochore.
  5. The chromosomes first duplicate during cell division so that each daughter cell receives a complete set of chromosomes.
