Haploid.

  1. This refers to the presence of only one set of chromosomes.
  2. Gametes (eggs and sperm) of all living things (plants and animals) are haploid in nature.
  3. A haploid cell has n number of chromosomes.
  4. In sexually reproducing organisms, all body cells, except gametes, are diploid.
  5. Gametes are formed by meiosis. During meiosis, a diploid cell undergoes two successful divisions to produce haploid gametes.
