When three resistances$R_1$,$R_2$ and $R_3$ are connected in series, then

Current passing through each resistor will be same and potential difference is distributed among them.

Now $V=V_1+V_2+V_3$

$I{R}_{eq}=I\left(R_1+R_2+R_3\right)$

Thus,

$R_{eq}=\left(R_1+R_2+R_3\right)$
