Magnetic materials Non-magnetic materials
The materials which are attracted to a magnet are known as magnetic materials.
The magnetic state of magnetic materials is aligned in either parallel or anti-parallel arrangements hence they can respond to a magnetic field when they are under the influence of an external magnetic field.
For example - Iron, Cobalt

The materials which are not attracted to a magnet are known as non-magnetic materials.
The magnetic state of non-magnetic materials is arranged in a random manner in such a way that the magnetic movements of these domains are canceled out. Hence, they do not respond to a magnetic field.
For example - Plastic, Rubber
