The advantages of biotechnology are as follows.

• It improves health and nutrition, provides sustainable technology and genetically modified crops for disadvantaged farmers, increases crop yield, reduces pollution, creates vaccines for preventable diseases and energy-efficient fuels, and serves bioremediation purposes.

The disadvantages are as follows.

• Herbicide resistance causes harmful impacts on the environment.

• Overproduction of transgenic crops reduces market stability, export income and increases unemployment.

• Microorganisms are killed in the process and thus, it harms the ecosystem balance.
