Solution

  • ADDISON'S DISEASE
  • 1) Addison's disease, also known as primary adrenal insufficiency and hypocortisolism,
  • 2) It is a long-term endocrine disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones.
  • 3) Symptoms generally develop slowly and include abdominal pain, weakness, and weight loss.
  • 4) Treatment involves taking hormones to replace those not produced by the adrenal glands.

  • CUSHING'S SYNDROME
  • 1) Cushing's syndrome is known as hypercortisolism, is more common in women than men. It's most often seen in people ages 25 to 40.
  • Hypersecretion of cortisol hormone by adrenal gland causes Cushing's syndrome.
  • The most common cause is related to medications called glucocorticoids, also commonly known as steroids or prednisone.
  • Weight gain, obesity, fatty deposits, especially in the midsection, the face (causing a round, moon-shaped face), and between the shoulders and the upper back (causing a buffalo hump), purple stretch marks on the breasts, arms, abdomen, and thighs., thinning skin that bruises easily.
  • Treatment options include reducing steroid use, surgery, radiation and medication.
