Open in App
Solution

Instructions:
  • Start with an introduction.
  • Name a few great river valleys and write a few sentences on them.
Solution:

The Great River Valleys are cradles of ancient civilizations like our own Indus Valley Civilisation. These river valleys can be found between the Central Highlands and the Southern Plateaus. These rivers have their origin in snow-covered mountains and plateaus of Asia.
Some of the river valleys are explained below:
  1. The Tigris-Euphrates Valley in Iraq – This river valley is known as Mesopotamian Lowlands. Both these rivers drain into the Persian Gulf.
  2. The Indus Valley in India and Pakistan – These are the plains that have been formed by the river Indus and its tributaries such as Jhelum, Chenab, Beas, Ravi, and Sutlej.
  3. The Ganga-Brahmaputra River valley – These two rivers form fertile lands in India and Bangladesh.
  4. The valley of rivers Irrawaddy, Salween, and the Mekong – This lies in Myanmar and Indo-China Peninsula.
  5. The Great Plains of China or the Great Eastern Plains – These plains have been formed by rivers such as Hwang Ho, Yangtze Kiang, and Sinkiang.
