King Pulakeshi II was a brave and courageous ruler of the Chalukyan dynasty. He fought numerous battles. His first victory was over Laat in South Gujarat, followed by his win over Gurjar in North Gujarat.
Pulkeshi II also fought a great battle with King Harshavardhan near River Narmada in which King Harshavardhan was defeated.
He was a great patron of art. During his reign, he transformed the capital Vatapi into a magnificent city. The caves of Vatapi and Dharapuri were built during his reign and the famous cave murals of Ajanta were also painted at that time.
