  • Dandi march was an event of Civil Disobedience Movement .
  • Gandhi wrote a letter to Lord Irwin containing eleven demands which was not accepted.
  • Abolition of salt tax was one of them
  • On 12 march 1930, Gandhiji left his ashram at Sabarmati, after a short prayer with 78 delegates
  • He marched 200 miles to Dandi, and gained momentum on his way as others joined him
  • On April 6, 1930 Gandhi broke salt law.
  • This sparked off a civil disobedience movement nationwide
