Short note on increasing the content of carbon dioxide in the air as below.

Carbon dioxide gas present in the atmosphere is not harmful. however, excess carbon dioxide can be dangerous. Although the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen is maintained in nature by natural processes, nowadays the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere is constantly increasing discussed as below.

• When the plants and animals die, the bacteria present in the soil decompose them into simpler compounds. The plants take up these compounds from the soil. Some bacteria also decompose these compounds to release carbon dioxide.
• Animals and human beings consume plants and thus obtain carbohydrates from them. They also release carbon dioxide during the process of respiration.
• Some of the plants and animals get buried under many layers of the soil and get converted into fossil fuels over a long period of time. When these fossil fuels are burnt in vehicles, industries and at home, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.
• Combustion of fossil fuels in the atmosphere is the major cause of increasing carbon dioxide in the air.
• Burning of fossil fuels such as petrol, and diesel uses for transportation and industrial purposes.
• Burning of wood and charcoal for heating and cooking.
• Cutting of trees /deforestation increases also the carbon amount in the air.
• Carbon dioxide concentrations are rising mostly because of the fossil fuels that people are burning for energy.
