The Tughlaq Dynasty was coming to an end under the rule of Muhhamad bin Tughlaq, there were revolts in Daulatabad against the Sultans and there were people who wanted to establish their own kingdom. Bahmani Sultanate was established during this time in 1347 A.D. with Bidar as the capital and Alauddin Bahaman Shah became its ruler. The Bahamani Kingdom flourished over the span of a century and a half under the leadership of Mahmud Gawan. Mahmud Gawan was a great statesman and a loyal minister in Bahamani Kingdom.After his death the Bahamani kingdom crumbled and many viceroys declared independence.
