Solution:
In 1914, Lokmanya Tilak was released from Mandalay prison. During this time, World War - I had already begun.
Due to World War - I, the prices of commodities saw a dramatic increase. In addition, the British imposed several restrictions on the Indians.
The conditions led to discontent among the Indians. Leaders like Lokmanya Tilak and Annie Bessant came forward and gave rise to the Home-Rule Movement.
The main objective of the Home-Rule Movement was to achieve self-governance in India.
Lokmanya Tilak and Annie Bessant travelled to different parts of India and spread the movement.
Lokamanya Tilak spread the idea of Swaraj and said, ‘Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it’.
The Movement spread to different parts of India, and the British therefore agreed to provide self-governance and a political system in exchange for the cooperation of the Indians during the First World War.
