Genetic engineering is the method which is used for the production of organisms which contain the recombinant form of genetic material.
The scope of genetic engineering:
i. The organisms can be introduced with rDNA to produce hormones, proteins, interferons, antibodies and other therapeutics.
ii. Development of organisms which can take up harmful and toxic pollutants and reduce soil pollution.
iv. Plants can be introduced with genes for production of secondary metabolites.
v. The plants can be developed with resistance to insects, pests and diseases.
vi. Gene therapy can be used for the treatment of genetic disorders.
