Two threads-one of cotton and one of nylon were taken. (They were of same length and thickness).
The cotton thread was attached to a clamp, and weights were added to it, till the thread broke. The weights required to break down the thread was noted down.
The experiment was repeated for the nylon thread too.
It was observed that nylon thread required more weight to break the thread than cotton thread.
The above experiment shows that synthetic fibres (nylon) are stronger than cotton fibres.
