Solution
Objective: To show that carbon dioxide is released during the process of respiration.
Procedure:
Take a straw and a beaker.
Fill the beaker with lime water.
Blow air from the mouth using the straw into the beaker.
The lime water present in the beaker will turn milky.
Conclusion:
Calcium carbonate forms due to which lime water turns milky.
This shows that carbon dioxide was present in the expired gas.
The liberation of carbon dioxide during respiration can be shown by the experiment where the lime water present in a beaker will turn milky, after blowing air into it from the mouth using a straw, hence it will show that carbon dioxide was present in the expired air.
