Open in App
Solution

Four measures that can be taken to conserve forests:

  1. Controlled deforestation: While deforestation cannot be avoided completely, strict measures can be enforced. This will keep a check on uncontrolled felling of trees.
  2. Protection against forest fires: Forest fires are the most common and fatal cause of loss of the wide range of biodiversity in forests. Adverse effects of forest fires or the fires themselves can be avoided by bringing down strict laws that prevent activities like unmonitored campfires, smoking etc, in the forest areas. Awareness about handling and dousing out forests fires should be popularized.
  3. Afforestation: Afforestation is the mass planting of trees to combat the derogatory effects of deforestation.
  4. Better farming practices: Sustainable farming practices like the inculcation of agroforestry will ensure the conservation of forests.
