Write any two tests to show that CH3COOH is acidic in nature.

  • Acids when reacted with blue litmus paper, it turns red. Similarly, acetic acid also turns blue litmus red.
  • Acids react with base to form salt and water. This is called neutralization reaction.
  • This reaction can be used to identify the acidic nature.
  • Acetic acid (CH3COOH) reacts with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to form sodium acetate (CH3COONa) and water(H2O).

So, from the above two tests, we can say that CH3COOH is an acid.
