(ii)Aluminium bromide + Chlorine → Aluminium chloride + Bromine

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Aluminium bromide + Chlorine Aluminium chloride + Bromine
The chemical equation for the word equation written above is:
AlBr3 +Cl2 AlCl3 +Br2
To balance Chlorine : As there are 3Chlorine molecules on right hand side and two chlorine molecules on left hand side, the Cl on left side is multiplied by 3 and on right side is multiplied by 2
There are 2 Bromine molecules on right side and three Bromine molecules on left side.We place 3 in front of Bromine in right side and 2in front of AlBr3 on the left side , the equation becomes:
2AlBr3 + 3Cl2 2AlCl3 +3Br2
