Adipose tissue and areolar tissue are types of connective tissue seen in animals.
- Adipocytes are cells that store fat seen in adipose tissue. These are seen beneath the skin, covering of the heart, around the blood vessels, kidney and yellow bone marrow. It act as an insulator and shock absorbing cushion. Blubbers in whales and hump in camels are examples of adipose tissue.
- Areolar tissue is the loose connective tissue made up of sticky matrix with fibers like white collagen and yellow elastic fibers and abundant mucin content. It is otherwise called packaging tissue as it fills the space inside the organs. It also helps in repairing the tissues after an injury.
