Inbreeding Outbreeding
It refers to the mating of closely related animals within the same breed for 4-6 generations. It refers to the mating of unrelated animals for 4-6 generations, which may be between the animals of the same breed, different breed or different species.
Inbreeding increases homozygosity. So, it helps in maintaining the purity of race. It produces hybrids.
The offspring are not superior to parents. Offspring are superior to parents due to heterosis.
Repeated inbreeding results in a decline in productivity. Repeated cross breeding maintains the superiority.
