G.M.Crops are crops which contain foreign gene or genes of interest from different species received by genetic engineering are called transgenic crop or genetically modified crops. These crops are produced by transgenesis with the help of recombinant DNA technology.
Advantages of G.M.Crops:
(1) G.M.crops produce desired phenotypic traits in the crop plant.
(2) The genes responsible for the production of specific proteins are inserted into GM crops. The crops then produce that specific protein.
(3) Transgenic crops synthesize new products of specific biochemical pathway which are economically important.
(4) These crops can also help in preventing the expression of the existing native gene which are harmful.
