Solution

Characteristic features of striated muscles are:

  • Striated muscle fibres constitute alternate light and dark bands.
  • The cells of these tissues are long, cylindrical, multinucleated and unbranched.
  • These are also known as skeletal muscle fibres as they are attached to bones.
  • They are also known as voluntary muscles because they move as per our will.
  • They are present at those sites where we can control our movements, for example, hands, legs, tongue, etc.
