Write short notes on the functions of Thyroid hormones.

The thyroid gland is located at the front of the trachea (wind pipe) of neck just below the Adam's apple. The two main thyroid hormones are T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). T3 and T4 regulate the body's temperature, metabolism and heart rate. Another hormone that is produced in thyroid gland is called calcitonin. This hormone regulates the level of calcium and phosphate in the blood.
