Protista shows the following characteristics:
  1. These are eukaryotic and unicellular organisms.
  2. Most of them live in water while some inhabit moist places.
  3. They have a membrane-bound nucleus and other cellular organelles.
  4. They have pseudopodia, cilia, or flagella for movement.
  5. Most of these organisms show aerobic respiration.
  6. They show both the autotrophic nutrition (Euglena) and heterotrophic nutrition (Amoeba).
  7. They show the asexual mode of reproduction.
  8. Amoeba, Paramecium, Euglena, Diatoms, Dinoflagellates are some examples.
Monera shows the following characteristics:
  1. These are prokaryotic and unicellular organisms.
  2. They possess a rigid cell wall.
  3. They show the presence of flagella and pili.
  4. The plasma membrane show infoldings called mesosomes.
  5. They show asexual reproduction.
  6. They have both the autotrophic and heterotrophic mode of nutrition.
  7. They inhabit diverse habitats.
Salmonella, Nostoc, Rhizobium are some examples.
