Blue vitriol:

  1. It is an inorganic compound of Copper (Cu) with the chemical formula CuSO4.xH2O, where x ranges from 0 to 5.
  2. The chemical name of Blue vitriol is Copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate.
  3. This Copper compound is also known as Crystalline Copper sulphate (CuSO4) which is blue in color.
  4. As we know the range 5 i.e. pentahydrate is the most common form.
  5. The Copper sulphate having pentahydrate is encountered with salt, generally which is blue in color.
  6. Hence, the chemical formula of blue vitriol, or Copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate is CuSO4.5H2O.

Therefore, the chemical formula for Blue vitriol can be give as CuSO4.5H2O.
