Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

1. Electron dot structure :

2. Chemical bond known as ionic bond is formed by the transfer of an electron from sodium atom to chlorine atom.

3. Sodium chloride exists as a crystalline solid in which a large number of Na+ and Cl ions are closely packed in space. Since attractive forces among the ions are quite large, the compound has a very high melting point.
