Electronic configuration: It is defined as the distribution of electrons in the different energy shells or levels of an atom of the element.

The shells are represented as K, L, M, N,.. or as 1, 2, 3, 4,…

The inert gas which has three shells i.e., K, L, M, N is Argon.

The atomic number of Argon is 18. Hence, the electronic configuration is 2, 8, 8.
