Open in App
Solution

The molecular formula of Ethene is C2H4.

Ethene (C2H4) and water(H2O):

  1. When Ethene gas (C2H4) reacts with water it undergoes hydration to form Ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) bypassing its vapors through water in the presence of Sulphuric acid(H2SO4).
  2. This reaction is called hydration of Ethane (C2H6).
    The chemical reaction is as follows C2H4Ethene+H2O(l)WaterH2SO4C2H5OH(l)Ethylalcohol
